Udall Got $1,500 From Abramoff's Employers
Lynn Bartels Rocky Mountain News April 17, 2008
U.S. Senate candidate Mark Udall took $1,500 in contributions from two firms that once employed disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Udall's campaign spokeswoman, Taylor West, said the donations from the companies' political action committees to the Eldorado Springs Democrat's congressional campaigns were legal. She said Udall plans to donate the $1,500 to an organization in the Marianas Islands that assists victims of human trafficking.
Abramoff and the islands have become an issue in Udall's Senate race against former Congressman Bob Schaffer, a Fort Collins Republican who left office in 2002.
Schaffer's campaign manager, Dick Wadhams, ripped Udall on Wednesday, questioning why he waited to return donations he got in 2000 and 2002.

Udall Wouldn't Kill Gun Ban But Hopes Court Will
Karen E. Crummy The Denver Post March 26, 2008
When the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments last week about the Washington, D.C., ban on handgun ownership, U.S. Rep. Mark Udall of Colorado issued a news release saying he hoped the court would affirm the right of citizens to "keep and bear arms."
But on four occasions when Udall, a Democrat running for an open U.S. Senate seat, could have voted in Congress to repeal all or sections of the gun ban, he did not. ...
Udall's GOP opponent, Bob Schaffer, quickly seized upon the statement, turning it into a campaign issue. Colorado voters have historically supported gun-ownership rights, said Dick Wadhams, Schaffer's campaign manager. Just recently, for example, applications for concealed-weapon permits have skyrocketed in Colorado.
"Mark Udall had an opportunity to say where he was on gun laws, and he did -- he's on the Boulder liberal side," Wadhams said.
Udall represents the 2nd Congressional District, which includes Boulder. ...
Three years ago, Udall voted against an amendment that would have prohibited funds from being used to enforce the district's law requiring some firearms to be unloaded and disassembled.
In 2004, he voted against a bill that essentially would have repealed the ban because "law-abiding citizens of D.C. are deprived by local laws of handguns, rifles and shotguns."
And in 1999, he declined to back two amendments: one that would have repealed the district's law and another that permitted "law-abiding residents" in the district to keep a registered handgun in their home.

Boulder Liberal says other issues "more important" than U.S. troops
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- What's more important for Boulder liberal Mark Udall -- the company of his liberal extremist friends or showing support for our brave men and women in uniform? Apparently, it's his liberal extremist friends.
On Tuesday, the NRSC released a web video "Mark Udall: Will He Condemn This?" slamming Udall for refusing to penalize the City Council of Boulder, Colorado, for labeling U.S. Marines as "unwelcome intruders" in their own country.

Boulder Liberal refuses to condemn Berkeley City Council
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Boulder liberal Mark Udall has once again reinforced how he got his liberal moniker. He's apparently proud to have liberal extremist friends.
Recently, the City Council of Berkeley, California passed a resolution that labeled U.S. Marines "unwelcome intruders" in their own country. While he's been given the chance, Mark Udall has yet to co-sponsor the bill that would penalize the liberal extremists.
Today, the NRSC announced the release of "Mark Udall: Will He Condemn This?" a web video focusing on the very actions Boulder liberal Mark Udall refuses to condemn.

Mark Udall: Blame America

Boulder liberal Democrat dramatically alters his position on Afghanistan after FIRST visit
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Yesterday, the NRSC questioned Boulder liberal Mark Udall about his changing views on Afghanistan. Now, it seems that not only has Boulder liberal Udall changed his view after finally going to Afghanistan and visiting our brave men and women, he's attempting a dramatic rhetorical shift in regards to Afghanistan. Never mind, of course, that Udall's striking flip-flop is more than six years and several inexcusable votes after the fact.
In September 2001, Mark Udall was strongly opposed to taking the fight to the terrorists immediately after September 11 and even blamed America for the terrorist attacks:

Boulder liberal Democrat now supports troops in Afghanistan; so why has he repeatedly voted against them?
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Now that Boulder liberal Mark Udall has taken his first trip to Afghanistan -- a grand 36 hour stop -- he's singing quite a different tune. In fact, despite Udall's previous voting record, he apparently now believes "...more than ever that we have to finish the job in Afghanistan ..."
Udall also called Afghanistan "the real central front in the war on terror.' 'This is the right fight,' [Udall] said of Afghanistan. 'It's a war of necessity ...'" (Rocky Mountain News, 1/24/08)
